Fiat 600 a historic walk through The new model was going to replace the old Fiat 500C (Fiat Topolino) and was designed to carry 4 adults. Fiat also wanted to cut production costs, so it had to be cheaper to build but nicer and faster. Chief engineer was Dante Ciacossa.

Fiat 600 technical information The small engine had good torque thus compensated the lack of speed. The tail-engined Fiat was water-cooled. The rear engine gave the car some pros like bigger interior space and less weight. With the wheels working separately the handling was great compared to its competitors at the time.
